Stress hypoperfusion and tissue injury in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: spatial characterization using high-resolution 3-tesla magnetic resonance imaging.

BACKGROUND Ischemia and tissue injury are common in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging offers combined evaluations of each phenomenon at sufficiently high resolution to examine transmural spatial distribution. In this prospective cohort study, we examine the spatial distribution of stress perfusion abnormalities and tissue injury in patients wit...

Enhanced oxidative stress in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Elevated plasma levels of inflammation and endothelial dysfunction markers have been reported in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The aim of the current study was to determine whether HCM is associated with enhanced oxidative stress. We enrolled 54 HCM patients with sinus rhythm, including 21 subjects with a left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction (gradient >/= 30 mmHg...

DIFFUSE CORONARY ARTERIAL ECTASIA WITH HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY

A 40 year old male, a known case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, was admitted for catheterization. At catheterization and angiography, septum was hypertrophied to about 5cm and diffuse coronary artery aneurysm was revealed. We found no previous report of coronary artery aneurysm in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Biomarkers of cardiovascular stress and fibrosis in preclinical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Objective Sarcomeric gene mutation carriers without overt left ventricular hypertrophy (G+/LVH-) can harbour subclinical changes in cardiovascular structure and function that precede the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). We sought to investigate if circulating biomarkers of cardiovascular stress and collagen metabolism among G+/LVH- individuals, measured at rest and following ex...
